As pet owners we LOVE our cats and want to care for them as members of the family. When there's a person who doesn't feel well, usually they'll let us know and show signs that something is bothering them, we are socially attached to each other and communicate as such. Same with dogs who more similar in their social interaction as a more communal animal.
Cats are a different kind of species all together. All our social mambo jambo doesn't come natural to them. It's in their nature to be loners. Even when they are grouped with other cats and pets, they might get along but there is a certain amount of tension in the air.
When cat's become ill, they won't start crying or nagging. They typically snuggle in a lonely corner and try to fight it on their own.
That's why as cat lovers we have to observe their behavior more closely and try to become educated so to understand what your cat maybe feeling, and identify any cat health problems.

- Make sure your cat isn't ONLY being a snob if staying in hiding
